The Bentley Bentayga changed the luxury SUV market when it launched in 2015. The Extended Wheelbase version — the result of a nine-figure development investment — is not a simple stretch. It is an entirely new focus on what the rear cabin of a car can offer.
The wheelbase grows by 180mm. That extra space is occupied by seating that incorporates the world’s first auto climate-sensing and advanced postural adjustment systems, heated rear door and centre armrests, and a Touch Screen Remote — a dedicated handheld device allowing rear passengers to control the vehicle independently. Three seating configurations include a 4+1 layout alongside four and five-seat versions.
The 4.0-litre 550PS V8 engine is carried over, but the introduction of Electronic All Wheel Steering means the turning circle is actually 7% smaller than the standard Bentayga at 11.8 metres. The extended wheelbase handles better in tight spaces than the shorter car. Bentley Dynamic Ride, the 48V active anti-roll system that debuted as a world first on the original Bentayga, comes as standard.
The cabin air quality system uses ionisers to charge airborne particles such as dust and allergens, causing them to adhere to surfaces. The result is a measurably cleaner breathing environment. New craftmanship details include finer stitching threads creating a softer quilted finish and Bentley Diamond Illumination — light emitted through tiny perforations in the door trim.
With 24 billion trim combinations and total possible specifications running into the trillions, the Bentayga EWB is effectively a bespoke object positioned as a production car. Delivery began in Q4 2022.
