A Universal Language: Nata Vuokila and Lara Buividis of LN Family

Femininity knows no borders. It speaks the same quiet language in Moscow and Dubai, in Paris and Milan — a whisper yet carries. Nata Vuokila and Lara Buividis, co-founders of LN Family, a brand that has grown over seventeen years from a Moscow project into an international community with a presence in Dubai and plans to expand into Europe, say the brand follows its woman, not the market.

Seventeen years ago, we launched Instagram for LN Family. Social media was only just learning to be a shopfront, and we simply showed what we made. Within months, orders began arriving from Paris, Milan, Dubai.

Women followed us from America, from countries across the East. We did nothing deliberate to reach international markets. Women found us.

We remember the first parcel to Paris. Wrapping that dress, we thought: how strange to send something there, to a place where fashion supposedly begins. But afterwards the customer wrote that wearing that very dress made her be herself at an important meeting.

That’s when we understood geography had nothing to do with it. Opening in Dubai, we braced ourselves for culture shock. It came, but from an unexpected direction.

The most surprising thing turned out to be how quickly decisions are made here. A customer comes in, tries something on, buys it. No lengthy deliberation.

Yet the demands on every detail of the experience are exponentially higher. Here luxury is measured in sensations. Everything matters: how the boutique looks, how the stylist speaks, how much time you’re given to try things on, how the purchase is wrapped.

Even what you feel after leaving the shop. Another discovery: customers from the Middle East don’t only buy modest clothing. They love open, bold pieces just as much.

They simply choose a different context for them. Private gatherings, receptions at home, women’s clubs. In Dubai, clothing becomes part of a social script.

Business breakfasts, brunches, evening dinners. The wardrobe functions as a communication tool. Dubai taught us to be calm.

Here you learn to be in flow, to accept a different rhythm of life, to listen more to yourself. It’s a city where strength manifests through stability and inner balance, not speed. And perhaps this very state is beginning to reflect in the collections we create today. For us, LN Family is a reflection of understanding modernity: calm, conscious, beyond trends and geography.
