The Brilliant Full Baguette Automatic Rainbow from Jacob and Co is built on a straightforward principle: that women have been choosing from restyled men’s watches for too long. The Brilliant collection was designed specifically for women who want something beautiful on their wrist and appreciate the precision of fine Swiss timekeeping. The Rainbow takes the collection to its most spectacular point.
446 baguette-cut rainbow sapphires and one cabochon, set in polished 18K white gold across a 44mm case, powered by the in-house automatic JCAA04 calibre. The gem sourcing is significant. Assembling matched baguette-cut coloured sapphires in graduated rainbow sequence can take months or years — the colour matching alone requires the kind of long-term supplier relationships that Jacob and Co has spent decades building.
The Astronomia Art United Arab Emirates, also from the house, takes a different approach to display. A double-axis tourbillon spins on one axis every 60 seconds and on another every five minutes, inside a case that functions essentially as a gallery. Four hand-crafted miniature sculptures of iconic UAE structures rotate within the movement, the sapphire crystal case putting everything on show.
It is the Astronomia concept — reinventing the tourbillon in vertical orientation — applied to a specific cultural moment. Both pieces represent the house’s central commitment: that high jewellery expertise and high watchmaking are not separate disciplines but expressions of the same vision.
