Cosa Nostra — Casa Nostra: Aram Manukyan and Asmik Kalantaryan of NOAH

Creating harmonious spaces for a life well-lived requires balancing aesthetics with the functionality of everyday comfort. Aram Manukyan and Asmik Kalantaryan, partners in life and work, share their distinctive philosophy as founders of NOAH — a company operating at the intersection of creativity and engineering, delivering turnkey projects of any complexity across the globe. Our story began in Moscow during the turbulent nineties, when survival took precedence and few gave thought to design.

We began with lighting — opening a handful of showrooms that grew from importing fixtures to collaborating with major companies specialising in outfitting shopping centres, offices, and private homes. We became recognised experts, attending leading exhibitions across Europe and the United States, and gradually moving into the world of luxury interiors. Picture this: Moscow, Tverskaya Street.

Traffic at a standstill. A crane lifting thirteen-metre engineered hardwood floors through an apartment window. The Vayner brothers’ flat would become our first publication in Salon magazine.

In a recent conversation with an Italian flooring manufacturer, we were told thirteen-metre boards were impossible — five metres at most, and only custom. The surprise on his face when we shared our photographs was priceless. This story perfectly reflects our philosophy: we don’t accept conventional limitations.

Honeycomb-shaped windows from Germany for a celebrated architect? Certainly. Three-metre-high doors?

Voilà. An Italian staircase shipped to Miami? No problem.

We now live and work in Italy, where our company is based. Having lived in Italy for the past five years has allowed us to collaborate closely with the manufacturers and gain insight into their strengths, challenges, and capabilities. On one occasion, we advised a client against placing an order with a celebrated manufacturer whose financial stability we quietly questioned.

The factory closed just weeks later. Our son Armen recently joined us as financial director, having grown up surrounded by blueprints, construction exhibitions, and discussions about lighting and textiles. Good design transforms the quality of life.

Awakening in beautiful spaces where every detail delights, where colours harmonise, where light distributes properly — you feel different. More calm, focused, open. This is not magic; it is proven spatial perception psychology.
